# What is a Reset?

## What is it?

A reset is when all player data wipes, this includes builds, chest, inventories & map.

## When is it?

Resets are rare, however resets normally happen when there is a new Minecraft update. Or when players vote to have a new season, or we feel we need one.

## Why Does it Happen?

There are many reasons why these happen. Some may be, the server is too big. We can only support such a wide range of data, once we reach our limits, we can't do anything. The world gets used up pretty quickly, depending on what game mode, the board is most likely pretty small. Meaning you can only do so much before everything is destroyed.

### What Will Happen?

Everything, player data, money, coins, player vaults, enderchest, the world itself, island, and everything else will get deleted. All player ranks will stay the same.

### Is There an Event?

Yes, we will host the purge event, this event will disable non grief plugins, and allow players to kill, blowup, and go crazy. However, this does not mean you can hack. All rules still apply, you can get a refresh here[Rules](/cast-wiki/getting-started/rules.md). This will normally take place for a day or so, allowing players to have some fun before we reset everything, players will normally be warned a week in advance so they can take screen shots of their builds.
